About Me

I’ve been unskilled labor, farmstand worker and operator, farmhand, stagehand, traffic control, stockboy, library page, and Prodigy Classic Bulletin Board Operator. Post-college I worked  for the Federal Government, where I took claims and then moved into IT Support. I’ve been end-user support, email admin, Windows NT and Active Directory enterprise admin and infrastructure architect as well as a server farm supervisor. I supervised and managed staffs that dealt with IT access and application security as well as IT policy. I managed two of the Social Security Administration’s major systems over the years, ensuring their security, compliance, and functional upgrades.

I’ve learned a little bit about a lot of things.  After a thirty-one year plus career with the federal government, I’m seeing what will be interesting to fill my days now.

I’ve always been fascinated by space & space travel, leading to a love of speculative fiction.  I’m the kind of guy that will read a cereal box if there’s nothing else handy.  I’ve been trying my hand at writing bits and pieces for a good chunk of my life, but now that I have a little more free time, I’m going to see if I can work into getting someone to pay me for my private-sector words at some point!
